Interactions between Morphine and Morphine antagonists

Abstract
In this paper, the influences of nalorphine and pentazocine on the changes of several tissue catecholamine contents, blood sugar and plasma nonesterified fatty acid levels induced by morphine in rabbits were studied.
The results obtained were summarized as follows ;
In the experiment for the tissue norepinephrine content,
1. Morphine and nalorphine induced the transient increase of the brain content,; the rapid decrease of the heart content, and the slight increase of the renal content. But pentazocine did not affect significantly the content of all of the organs.
2. Nalorphine and pentazocine did not antagonize the changes of the norepinephrine contents in the brain and heart induced by morphine.
3. Morphine, nalorphine, and pentazocine increased the levels of blood sugar and plasma nonesterified fatty acid.
4. Nalorphine markedly suppressed the increases of blood sugar and plasma nonesterified fatty acid levels induced by morphine, but pentazocine enhanced the changes induced by morphine.
